Why Your SEO Isn’t Working After 6 Months – A Straight Talk by Swapan Kumar

SEO Do not work

If you’re feeling stuck, you’re not alone.

You hired someone for SEO.

They told you to wait a few months.

Now it’s been six.

Still no traffic.

No improvement in leads.

No clear idea of what’s been done.

At this point, it’s fair to ask:

“Why is my SEO not working?”

As someone who’s worked with small businesses, local shops, startups, and large websites for over 18 years, I’ve seen this story repeat itself too many times. Let’s look at what might be going wrong.

What should happen in 6 months of SEO?

You won’t jump from page 10 to page 1 overnight. But if someone is doing proper SEO work, you should see things like:

If none of this is happening, there’s a reason.

Common reasons SEO fails (even after months of work)

1. No real plan

Many freelancers or companies write blog posts or get links without understanding your business or what people are searching for. That doesn’t help.

2. Work done by someone else (often junior or outsourced)

You paid an expert, but the actual work is done by someone who doesn’t understand how Google works or how to fix real issues.

3. Wrong keywords

You may be ranking for keywords, but they’re not the right ones. It happens a lot — traffic comes in, but not from people who are likely to become customers.

4. Website issues

If your website is slow, hard to use, or full of broken pages — even good SEO won’t help much. Google notices everything.

5. Reports look good, but nothing’s moving

Some SEO providers send long reports filled with numbers — but no real progress. It looks impressive, but doesn’t add value.

What I do differently (if you’ve already wasted time and money)

If you’re tired of hearing promises without results, here’s how I work:

1. First – I check what’s been done

I run a short audit — not full of jargon — just a direct look at your site, your links, your keywords, and your content. You’ll know exactly what’s been done and what hasn’t.

2. Then – I fix what matters first

We don’t start with blog posts and We fix broken pages, technical errors, and site speed. We make sure Google can crawl and trust your site. Basics first.

3. We work on keywords that bring real customers

I don’t chase high-competition keywords just for traffic. I focus on the terms your buyers are typing in — even if they bring 10-20 visits a month, they matter more if they convert.

4. You’ll get a plain-English progress report each month

No fancy graphs, no filler text. Just honest updates: what’s been done, what moved, what didn’t, and what’s next.

What to do now (if you’re feeling stuck)

You’ve already waited months.

Don’t wait another six for the same results.

Here’s what I suggest:

  • Ask your current provider for a real report. Not just traffic numbers — ask what’s been improved and why it matters.
  • If you’re not satisfied, I can take a look and tell you — clearly — if the problem is with the strategy, execution, or something else.

No commitments. No pressure.

Sometimes, it just takes one solid review to get back on track.

Want me to take a look at your site and current SEO?

Drop me a message — I’ll review it and send honest feedback.
